VIDEO CHATTING WITH FRIENDS AND RELATIVES

Do your FaceTime with your grandchildren? Would you like to? Would you like to never miss a call? Many use Skype but that is usually only available when on your computer.

Are you aware there are many other options, especially for those who don't all use I-Phones?

Apple's FaceTime only works if both you and your friend/relative have I-Phones.

Skype has an app that you can download to your both an IPhone and an Android phone. (Android is anything other than an Apple phone) To use Skype you both need to set up Skype accounts with an ID and those you plan to video chat with must do the same. Skype has made some major changes lately and even for those who are used to using it, its become confusing!

Google has a Duo app which allows face-to-face video conversations between any combo of iPhone and Android. It has a feature called Knock Knock.

Our family uses a program called "What's App" which is a free download. It's relatively new in Canada but has been extremely popular in Europe for years.

It's a messaging program but one that can also be used to phone someone or video chat with them and you can send photos and videos that may be too large to be sent via email.

FaceBook also now offers ways to contact others but I am not sure how safe it is at this time. As far as I am aware you can only do a video call and to do this - go to the person's home page and look to the right of their cover photo, right of Message tab are some dots.... click on this and look down the list to where it says "Video call".

Hope this information may be of use to some of you!
Have a wonderful weekend.

HOW TO COOL DOWN ON A HOT SUMMER DAY

With the hot summer days we are always looking for ways to cool down and right now even sitting in the shade can be hot so how about a nice cool drink?
Invite some friends over to share some of these:

Raspberry Lemonade Slushie

2 cup fresh Raspberries (frozen)
Juice of 2 Lemons
1/2 cup Sugar
2 cup Ice Cubes

Toss ingredients in blender and blend until ready.

Alternate recipes: each serves 4

1 lb frozen raspberries
2 cups ice
1/2 of a 12 oz. can of limeade
1 cup water

Peach Fruit Slushie

1 lb frozen peaches
1 cup ice
1/2 12-oz can of frozen limeade

1 1/4 cups water

QUEEN SHOES

Yesterday I posted some cute shoes and how to decorate them.

Today on Facebook I saw some adorable red flats and they were decorated all over with small rhinestone crowns. Apparently the red flats were purchased at WalMart and under $10!!
The small crowns can be found at craft stores.

Hello friends

I am going to try to rejuvenate this blog but in a more friendly way, sharing with you information that I believe may be of interest to you and others. Please feel free to sign up to know when updates are made. (Enter your email address below the large logo on the right side of this page and click submit)

Share the blog with friends too. Encourage them to follow the blog and of course, to join or start a chapter of CJCS with their friends, if not already a member.

We hope that eventually this blog will replace the cjcsmember website as we encourage our members to register to join the "Jewel Box", which is only for members but this blog is for you to share. I hope you will enjoy it!

This is for my more creative friends although a great deal of ability isn't required. I did something similar for a PJ Party and covered an old paid of mules with bits of purple boas. I just used a glue gun and stuck pieces onto my old shoes.  If I still have them I'll post a photo later.

But here's something far more creative and elegant:

Go to your local Michael's or craft store and look for Swarovsky or other crystals and pearls and for some "Gem-Tac"

Use a pair of tweezers to set the stones using the flatter, larger stones first. Just a dab of Gem-Tac will do it and you will have a pair of shoes similar to ones being sold for over $400.00 such as the ones I saw in a magazine recently.

Have fun!

It's Convention Time!

Members of the Crown Jewels of Canada Society are packing up their red, white and purple and putting on their cowgirl hats and boots and heading to Alberta for the 7th Annual National Convention!
Elaine and her committee have more than a few surprises in store for our members.

In addition, all across the country, chapters and provincial members are gathering at smaller events to celebrate our 7th Anniversary.

Lynda and Sue are heading off to Osoyoos for a large picnic gathering of Jewels from southern British Columbia while at the end of the month Jewels from all over B.C. are heading to Vernon for the Big Anniversary Celebration.

Jewels in Manitoba are also heading off to a picnic to celebrate and have included Northern Ontario Jewels in their celebration.

Our Jewels are always up to something and no matter what they're doing, they're having FUN!

MAY UPDATES

First, our hearts go out to all who have been affected by the fires in Fort MacMurray and surrounding area. We thank the first responders, police, firemen, and all the volunteers who have dropped everything to help and to those who have now volunteered to help with clean-up.

We're a little late but we hope you have all enjoyed Mother's Day and are finally enjoying some beautiful spring weather. I noticed that Banff and area received SNOW - who forgot to tell Mother Nature to play nice? It's mid-spring!

Big hugs and get well wishes to our former Director Mary who is in hospital recovering from surgery.

Melanie will be sending Newsletter #81 out over the weekend. Watch your inbox and if it doesn't appear, you can always download it from the "Jewel Box."

Join us on one of our Facebook pages and connect with other members.

To all who are heading off to the Alberta Provincial Convention this weekend - HAVE A BLAST!

V.P. Sue and I are looking forward to our tour across the country later this month and seeing so many friends and meeting many more of our precious Jewels. Thank you to all the organizers who have planned many activities for us to attend.

It's always a good feeling to see how many events are selling out way in advance. Our Jewels love to have a good time together!

THIS MUST BE A NEW RECORD!

Registration for our National Convention, to be held in Calgary in September 2016, has been open less than one month and already there are less than 50 tickets left.
Obviously out ladies love the National and what better location than Calgary, gateway to the Rocky Mountains.

All membership renewals are up to date and have been processes and receipts have been sent to each member. If you haven't received yours, check to ensure your Queen has sent it and if so, please contact our office as it's apparently been lost in the mail. We'd be happy to forward a new registration form and we need to know that you plan to renew, otherwise, your name will be removed from our data base and you will receive no further news or newsletters from us. It's wonderful that you have all renewed on time and we thank you for your promptness! Our Jewels are awesome!

If you are one of our "Cruisers" please take the poll that is in the March newsletter so we will have an idea of where you all want to go next year!
