We've come a very long way in a very short time.

We are set up as a National Non-Profit organization. We've delivered 1,000 Founders Club pins to our original Founding Members and are now shipping membership pins to members. These members pins are Cloisonne and very special as they were designed by our very own JEWEL, member Jacquie S.

Plans are well under way for our first Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Convention to be held September 10-12, 2010.

We've been sending a monthly newsletter to all members since the summer and our newsletters are archived on our members web site. Yes, we have a private members only web site where each member has her very own web page in addition to the provincial pages and a wealth of information sharing and friendships being formed across the country. We even have a cancer support group, not to mention recipe sharing, a craft group, and many others. Check it out if you haven't already!

We have a Board of Directors, representing several provinces, who run our organization on behalf of the members. Two people who stand out for the huge amount of work they have taken on recently are Elaine H who has been mailing out all the pins, and M.M. who's been working diligently in the office recording all the membership information.

Our membership numbers are ahead of our projections with new requests arriving daily for information on how to join!

We would like to remind members to take a moment each day and check the web site. Say a welcome to our featured members, wish the birthday girls a Happy Birthday greetings and see what's new.

As we close 2009 and move forward into 2010 we send Holiday Greetings to you all. Our wish for you is a happy holiday with wonderful food, friends and family and safety on the winter roads!

Greetings Jewels!

Jewels are precious, Jewels are beautiful, Jewels are treasured. That my friends is what we are. We are all Jewels, Canadian Jewels!

A group of women in British Columbia wanted to meet for lunch or tea, go to movies, travel, shop and just plain have fun. They were tired of belonging to groups with a lot of rules, weren't looking for structure, wanted something inexpensive and accountable and with the country being in the middle of a recession they wanted to keep their money in Canada. They decided to form a little club within the interior of B.C. and do just that!

In April, 2009 women came together for lunch and a meeting to discuss their options. The vote was unanimous, it was time to take action and put together a proposal to share with our friends. Ladies who were interested were asked to please send a nominal fee to be used for the start-up. Once we reached 1,000 members we would hire a lawyer and take the necessary steps to become official.

Much to our surprise we reached our first 1,000 members, almost three months ahead of schedule. Those first 1,000 members are part of our "Founders Club" -without their support we would not have been able to fulfill this dream! We are so thankful for their support!

We put together a committee and next we met with a lawyer and suddenly we were on the road to something new and exciting!

As would happen with any group of women, word spread. More and more ladies were asking for information about this new Canadian group. From a small group in central B.C we began to gather friends from across Canada who were hearing about what was going on in B.C. and wanted to be a part of this new organization too.

We thought maybe we should have a representative from each province and a few names immediately came to mind. Women we knew, knew they would work hard, and that we could trust. Women who would put their heart and soul into creating our new group and making it a success. Women who would all have an equal say in the directions the group would take.

After several weeks we were finally able to come up with a name and on July 22, 2009 we officially became the "Crown Jewels of Canada Society." Next we filed papers to become a Canadian National Non-Profit Society for women.

Stay tuned for future updates on our activities.
