Membership & Insurance Renewals are due in a few short weeks.

Now that the Holidays are almost over it's "back to business" and we'd like to take a moment to remind our members that their membership and insurance renewals are due by the end of January. Please allow a minimum of 2 weeks for your mail to reach us and 2-4 weeks for renewals to be processed.

We remind you that membership registrations are to be on the 2012 membership form. Older forms are no longer accepted. Please be sure to include your postal code.

Once your membership has been processed you will receive an email confirmation. Feel free to send a copy of that with your chapter's registrations for the Convention as proof that they are members. If everyone in your chapter sends their registrations together it will make it easier for the convention committee to process your chapter's registrations, not to mention faster!

Registration for the convention opens February 1st and you cannot register until your membership has been renewed.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, we would like to wish you all the very best in the New Year!

Changes and updates as we get set to enter a new year.

December Newsletter -The December newsletter was emailed this morning. A few days late this month so that we could hold off until after the Board of Directors meeting yesterday. It was felt that if there was anything to report, we'd prefer to share the news now rather than waiting until the next newsletter.
As a result, the Board voted to change the mailing date of our monthly newsletters to the 15th of each month so that information shared with members is not delayed several weeks. Beginning January 2012, newsletters will be emailed on the 15th.

Convention News -
You've all been waiting for this announcement! Registration information will be posted on the Convention website February 1st. No information will be released until then.
We ask that when you book with the hotel you supply the names of all who will be in your hotel room and that you only book one room. It's not fair to others who are trying to register when someone holds four rooms "just in case" and should this become apparent that someone has booked multiple rooms under just one name for all rooms, your surplus rooms may be cancelled.

Important - Membership Renewals - New forms
Your registration for the convention cannot be confirmed until your membership renewal has been processed and confirmed. Don't be disappointed, send your renewal now. Renewals must be submitted on the new 2012 membership form. We now have one form that includes membership, insurance and pin orders. Forms are available from your provincial representative.

Newsletter and Membership Renewals

The November Newsletter has been emailed to all members. In it is the link to the 2012 Membership Renewal Package, which also contains information for renewing your chapter's insurance and ordering pins (membership pin, new CJCS rhinestone pin etc.)

If someone in your chapter does NOT receive their newsletter, please ask them to email our office. Do not do this for them. This way we will have their correct return email address. If you are not receiving the newsletter, remember to check your spam/junk mail. For members using "eastlink" as their Internet Provider, you will have to set up a yahoo or gmail (internet) email account as for some reason, those with eastlink cannot receive the newsletter.

All members receive ONE FREE MONTH this year as the renewal date has been changed to January 31st. ALL MEMBERSHIPS expire at that time if we have not reeived your renewal.

You must be an active 2012 member in order to register for the 2012 Convention to be held in Regina in September 2012. Convention registrations will not be accepted until memberships renewals have been processed. Please allow 4-6 weeks for processing.

UPDATES - from the AGM & Convention

First, we have a new "SHOPPING" tab on the member's web site. Place your orders now for Christmas before it's too late. A couple of the tabs have been moved so hover your mouse over them and see what's new!

We had a wonderful time in Brandon. Thank you so very much to the Brandon area Jewels and our Hostesses Judy & Darlene who worked so hard with their committee to make the convention a success. I think we all learned a little more about the Prairies over the four days we were there!

Our October Newsletter will be posted October 1st with a report on the AGM and convention. Remember that all past Newsletters back to 2009 are in the Archives on the Member's website.

Welcome to Darlene who is our new Provincial Representative and Board Member representing Manitoba. She is a great addition to the Board!

We have changed the due date of when membership renewals are due. Everyone gets one free month this year so that now, membership and insurance renewals will all be due at the same time. Makes life easier for all of us.

The good news is that there is no increase in membership fees for yet another year... three years in a row with no increase!

Don't forget that if you wish to join us on the 2012 cruise, you MUST book now. Only a few cabins remain.

CHAT

We have a new "chat" program on our member's web site. It's great. You can chat in the "group" or send a private message to someone that makes a little window pop up on their screen and they hear a sound (chime) if their sound is turned on.
We're always finding ways to improve!

Looking forward to seeing so many of you again next week at the convention and meeting many new Jewels. Lots of hugs going around for sure!!

Beautiful flowers and gardens everywhere including this Victoria home.

Thank you everyone for treating us "Royally" during our visit.

JUNE UPDATE

Our Manitoba Representative Darlene is home from hospital and surgery and is now required to "not lift" and "take if easy" - both are probably most difficult for her to obey since she I believe lives on a farm! We wish her well and a speedy recovery.

It is with great sadness that I have to report that Judy's husband died suddenly on Tuesday evening. Please, would you hold off contacting her about the convention for a few days and allow her time to grieve and get through the funeral. I know many of you who are not too far away plan to support her by attending the funeral service and she really appreciates your support and concern.

The June Newsletter was sent out at the beginning of the month and we hope you've all taken the time to read it and to share it with your members who don't have email. Remember that all past newsletters are available in the archives section of our member's web site.

Sue (British Columbia Board Member/Representative) and Lynda have just returned from a "road trip" visiting chapters on Vancouver Island and the lower mainland. Everywhere they went they received such a warm welcome and were "treated Royally" and send their thanks to all the Jewels they met. It was such fun and the Jewels all along the way worked their "magic" to ensure the sun was usually shining!
Welcome to all the newest Jewels. It's wonderful to see you helping us to light up the country! Don't forget to stop by the "Welcome Group" and say hello to them. There is a link in the group to each Jewel's homepage.

ROAD TRIP

British Columbia Board Member, Sue Schierer, and Founder, Lynda Millard, are setting off on a Road Trip next week visiting CJCS chapters on Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland of Vancouver. They'll post some photos here as they travel. Stay tuned!

MAY NEWSLETTER

Our May newsletter was emailed to ALL members (that we have a valid email address for) on May 6th. We apologize for the delay but were updating and adding several new members to the membership list and wanted them to be included.

We've renamed the member's private web site to "The Jewel Box" and of course in order to access it, you need to have your "key."

Nova Scotia has just held their first "Royal Court" meeting which was very successful. Congratulations!

We've had interest from a group in Newfoundland who wish to start a chapter! What fun to add another province to our Society!

Saskatchewan Jewels really know how to party and will find ANY excuse to party too! In March they held their "Provincial Gathering" - a weekend at a spa with over 120 attending and this week they held a "Tea" with I believe 140 in attendance.

Alberta's been busy too and this month the Jewels in the north are attending a Luncheon and Fashion Show with fashions from their travels around the world as the theme. Jewels in the Calgary area will soon be holding their annual Car Rally.

The British Columbia Royal Court has changed their locale for May and are heading north to Kamloops to join the new Kamloops & Area Royal Court for a joint luncheon/meeting. Lynda & Sue are preparing for their road trip to visit chapters on Vancouver Island and the lower mainland in early June.

And, we all know that the Jewels in Manitoba are struggling to stay dry and not be flooded out while working hard putting together the event of the year - our AGM & Convention in September. Registration is still open but space is getting limited. Book today!

COME TO THE CONVENTION! We're looking forward to seeing you!

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held during the Annual Convention.  The AGM is open to all members who are attending the convention. Due to limited space in the convention facilities, those not attending the convention are not able to attend the AGM. All members have the opportunity to vote on issues brought forth at the AGM. Those unable to attend the Convention have the right to send a proxy (see July 2011 newsletter for details) to our office designating their provincial representative to vote on their behalf on any issues.

The Convention is open to EVERY MEMBER of the Crown Jewels of Canada Society.  Every Jewel is welcome to, and encouraged to attend. If no one else in your chpater is attending, come with with friends/relatives from chapters in other provinces or come on your own. If others in your chapter are unable to attend, we will welcome you and make every attempt to make you feel comfortable and not alone.

As we do not take "requests" for seating, we attempt to seat participants with other members so they will have the opportunity to meet new Jewels from across the country. We know you get to see your own chapter members and friends at home every month so this is the perfect opportunity to enlarge your friendships with Jewels from all over Canada.

APRIL NEWSLETTER

Hi Jewels!
The April Newsletter has been emailed out to all members this morning. Enjoy! Lots of news again this month.

CRUISE

Our Jewels had a wonderful time aboard the Sapphire Princess on their cruise to the Mexican Riviera. Once we were south of Los Angeles the weather was perfect for lounging by the pool. We weren't able to stop in Mazatlan so there was some disappointment at missing the planned all-day Trolley Tour there but we had an extra day in Cabo San Lucas as an alternative.
A PJ party in the main dining room, a Farewell Cocktail party, meeting in Crooners Bar in the evenings to enjoy the music of Bruce on the piano was a favourite meeting place. A Tea Party in our elegant hats, a Meet and Greet, all part of the Fun!

Everyone received a lovely gift, a white and purple tote bag that said "Crown Jewels of Canada Society, Mexican Riviera."

Bonnie and Helen won first prize in the door decorating contest with a truly beautiful CKCS & Cruise themed door hanging, including a cross-stitched Jewels and the names of all the Jewels on the cruise! A prize well deserved!
Rita and Dianne won the Scavenger Hunt with the hit item found being their "wig" they created. Congratulations Jewels.

The only down side was that Pauline was ill and then Lynda took ill and was "quarantined" on the last day!

If you missed this cruise, plan now to attend next years! Start saving!

The Jewels are off to the Riviera

We're packed and raring to go.
The Crown Jewels are off to L.A. where they'll be boarding the Sapphire Princess to cruise to the Mexican Riviera. We're all looking forward to an all-day Trolley Tour in Mazatlan and lots of other adventures together at sea and on land.
We'll try to post some photos as we go!

Be sure we have your accurate email address and that you have our email address on your safe senders list.

JANUARY 1 2011

A new year! May it be filled with love, friends, family, good health, and good times.

The January newsletter was mailed to all members at 12:01am today. It contained the information on the Convention and a link to the 2011 Convention web site. This years convention is being hosted by the Brandon Jewels and we thank them for their hard work and dedication. It's going to be a very busy year for them.

Information on the cruise was also emailed to our Jewels booked on our March Mexican Riviera cruise. Don't lose it as it's packed with everything you want to know.

If you have not renewed your membership by February 1st, 2011 you will not be receiving any future newsletters so don't delay and renew today! All 2010 memberships expired yesterday.

A reminder that our office is closed January 6th to February 7th.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
