Beautiful flowers and gardens everywhere including this Victoria home.

Thank you everyone for treating us "Royally" during our visit.

JUNE UPDATE

Our Manitoba Representative Darlene is home from hospital and surgery and is now required to "not lift" and "take if easy" - both are probably most difficult for her to obey since she I believe lives on a farm! We wish her well and a speedy recovery.

It is with great sadness that I have to report that Judy's husband died suddenly on Tuesday evening. Please, would you hold off contacting her about the convention for a few days and allow her time to grieve and get through the funeral. I know many of you who are not too far away plan to support her by attending the funeral service and she really appreciates your support and concern.

The June Newsletter was sent out at the beginning of the month and we hope you've all taken the time to read it and to share it with your members who don't have email. Remember that all past newsletters are available in the archives section of our member's web site.

Sue (British Columbia Board Member/Representative) and Lynda have just returned from a "road trip" visiting chapters on Vancouver Island and the lower mainland. Everywhere they went they received such a warm welcome and were "treated Royally" and send their thanks to all the Jewels they met. It was such fun and the Jewels all along the way worked their "magic" to ensure the sun was usually shining!
Welcome to all the newest Jewels. It's wonderful to see you helping us to light up the country! Don't forget to stop by the "Welcome Group" and say hello to them. There is a link in the group to each Jewel's homepage.

MAY NEWSLETTER

Our May newsletter was emailed to ALL members (that we have a valid email address for) on May 6th. We apologize for the delay but were updating and adding several new members to the membership list and wanted them to be included.

We've renamed the member's private web site to "The Jewel Box" and of course in order to access it, you need to have your "key."

Nova Scotia has just held their first "Royal Court" meeting which was very successful. Congratulations!

We've had interest from a group in Newfoundland who wish to start a chapter! What fun to add another province to our Society!

Saskatchewan Jewels really know how to party and will find ANY excuse to party too! In March they held their "Provincial Gathering" - a weekend at a spa with over 120 attending and this week they held a "Tea" with I believe 140 in attendance.

Alberta's been busy too and this month the Jewels in the north are attending a Luncheon and Fashion Show with fashions from their travels around the world as the theme. Jewels in the Calgary area will soon be holding their annual Car Rally.

The British Columbia Royal Court has changed their locale for May and are heading north to Kamloops to join the new Kamloops & Area Royal Court for a joint luncheon/meeting. Lynda & Sue are preparing for their road trip to visit chapters on Vancouver Island and the lower mainland in early June.

And, we all know that the Jewels in Manitoba are struggling to stay dry and not be flooded out while working hard putting together the event of the year - our AGM & Convention in September. Registration is still open but space is getting limited. Book today!

COME TO THE CONVENTION! We're looking forward to seeing you!

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held during the Annual Convention.  The AGM is open to all members who are attending the convention. Due to limited space in the convention facilities, those not attending the convention are not able to attend the AGM. All members have the opportunity to vote on issues brought forth at the AGM. Those unable to attend the Convention have the right to send a proxy (see July 2011 newsletter for details) to our office designating their provincial representative to vote on their behalf on any issues.

The Convention is open to EVERY MEMBER of the Crown Jewels of Canada Society.  Every Jewel is welcome to, and encouraged to attend. If no one else in your chpater is attending, come with with friends/relatives from chapters in other provinces or come on your own. If others in your chapter are unable to attend, we will welcome you and make every attempt to make you feel comfortable and not alone.

As we do not take "requests" for seating, we attempt to seat participants with other members so they will have the opportunity to meet new Jewels from across the country. We know you get to see your own chapter members and friends at home every month so this is the perfect opportunity to enlarge your friendships with Jewels from all over Canada.

The April Newsletter has been emailed out to all members this morning. Enjoy! Lots of news again this month.

CRUISE

Our Jewels had a wonderful time aboard the Sapphire Princess on their cruise to the Mexican Riviera. Once we were south of Los Angeles the weather was perfect for lounging by the pool. We weren't able to stop in Mazatlan so there was some disappointment at missing the planned all-day Trolley Tour there but we had an extra day in Cabo San Lucas as an alternative.
A PJ party in the main dining room, a Farewell Cocktail party, meeting in Crooners Bar in the evenings to enjoy the music of Bruce on the piano was a favourite meeting place. A Tea Party in our elegant hats, a Meet and Greet, all part of the Fun!

Everyone received a lovely gift, a white and purple tote bag that said "Crown Jewels of Canada Society, Mexican Riviera."

Bonnie and Helen won first prize in the door decorating contest with a truly beautiful CKCS & Cruise themed door hanging, including a cross-stitched Jewels and the names of all the Jewels on the cruise! A prize well deserved!
Rita and Dianne won the Scavenger Hunt with the hit item found being their "wig" they created. Congratulations Jewels.

The only down side was that Pauline was ill and then Lynda took ill and was "quarantined" on the last day!

If you missed this cruise, plan now to attend next years! Start saving!
